Cardiff Shell petrol station rooftop occupation.

Shell ProtestOn the 29th of June, in solidarity with the protest camp in County Mayo Ireland, as part of their anti-Shell week of action some anarchists held a protest in south Wales. The action itself consisted of a banner drop and a rooftop occupation of the Shell petrol station in Pontprennau on the outskirts of Cardiff. Leaflets were handed out, explaining the issues and protesters engaged with locals about the anti-Shell protest camp in County Mayo, and  some in depth conversations were had. There were no arrests although several police came to monitor the protest during the morning. Here is a quote by the protesters taken from Indymedia:

Solidarity with all peoples and communities affected and dispersed by Shell’s (and other profiteers’) despicable greed and profit-driven ecocide. From Alaska to Ireland, from Japan to Nigeria, and here in Cardiff also, the struggle against the suicidal convenience culture continues.

Full details of this action can be found here on Indymedia.
